This is our best DIY yet! The Travelling Sushi Mat

Sushi is without a doubt God’s gift to mankind: Pretty-looking, healthy, and incredibly yummy! But did you know the bendable bamboo mat you use to make sushi can also help you organise your toiletries?! Yes that’s right!

If you like to stay organised as much as I do, this DIY project is for you! I love how I now have a dedicated slot for each of my makeup brushes and I can’t wait to take this on my next trip! Sure, you can buy one of these at most makeup stores, but why not make your own for under 6 quid?!

This DIY is so easy and it only took me about 20-30 minutes to finish. I got all my supplies at a supermarket and a stationary store.

What you’ll need:

– a sushi mat (preferably one that is at least as wide as your longest brush)

– 1m of fabric elastic

– sewing kit/glue gun

– ribbon/velcro

Step 1: Loop the end of the elastic around a few of the bamboo sticks, then secure with a few stitches/glue gun

Step 2: Weave the rest of the elastic around the mat, adjust the size of the loops according to each of your brushes

Step 3: Roll up your makeup sushi! You can either secure your sushi roll with a pretty ribbon or attach velcro to the ends of the elastic. Voilà!
